FECG Dortmund

About us

FECG Dortmund is a free church in Lünen-Brambauer, founded in Dortmund in December 1991. Services in German and Russian.

Who we are

FECG Dortmund (Freie Evangeliums-Christen Gemeinde Dortmund e.V.) is an evangelical free church in Lünen-Brambauer, right on the city boundary with Dortmund. We hold our services in German and Russian, in person and on a livestream on YouTube. Every guest is welcome.

Our church didn't start in 1991 with a building, but with families getting to know each other: over songs and Bible stories outside an emergency shelter in Dortmund. In December 1991, meetings in living rooms grew into a church.

Our story at a glance

  1. 1991

    First encounters

Two Christian women sing with the children of the families at the shelter, learn Bible verses with them and tell Bible stories. That's how the families get to know each other.

  2. 1991

    Home groups

First meetings in one family's flat, later in the flats of the first families to get a home of their own.

  3. 1991

    Help from Unna-Massen

So that they can celebrate communion together, the group asks the church Haus der Gemeinschaft (opens in a new tab) in Unna-Massen for support. That's how the church comes to Dortmund-Hörde.

  4. December 1991

    The church is founded

    The church is officially founded.

  5. 1990s and 2000s

    Growth

New helpers join. Activities for children, a choir and church retreats begin.

  6. 20 September 2026

    35 years

Anniversary service with guests from friendly churches, among them the church from Unna-Massen that has been with us from the very beginning.

  7. Today

    The church today

Services in Lünen-Brambauer, bilingual, with a livestream on YouTube.

Grown through ups and downs

In the years that followed, new helpers joined. Activities for children, a choir and church retreats began. The church invited people living in residential hostels to get to know the Christian faith, took part in ProChrist together with other churches and held seminars. Sermons were first passed on on CD and MP3; today there's the livestream. A women's group started, too.

For many years the church prayed for a building of its own, until God gave it.

There were hard times and separations as well. They drove us to prayer and taught us to forgive. We're grateful that God has kept building his church.

Connected with others

We've never walked this road alone. We're especially close to the “Haus der Gemeinschaft (opens in a new tab)” in Unna-Massen, which has been with us from the very beginning.

Thus far

In 2026 we celebrated 35 years as a church, under the words of 1 Samuel 7:12. The glory for that doesn't belong to us, but to God.

“Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.”

1 Samuel 7:12 (KJV)
