What a Sunday looks like

So you know what to expect. A service usually lasts about an hour and a half, sometimes a little longer.
  1. Arriving

It's best to come a few minutes early so there's time to say hello. Usually someone will welcome you at the door. Sit wherever you like; we try to keep the back rows free for families with prams.

  2. Songs, prayer and Bible reading

We sing together in German and Russian, usually five songs over the whole service. The lyrics are shown on a large screen. In between, we pray and listen to a short Bible reading.

  3. Notices and greetings

Short news from church life and greetings from guests and friends.

  4. Sermon

The sermon explains a Bible passage and takes up most of the service. It's usually in Russian, about once a month in German. Before it starts, the children go to Sunday school.

  5. Closing

At the end we sing one more song and pray together.

Good to know

Translation
The sermon is interpreted live through wireless headphones. It helps to let us know in advance, but you can still get headphones during the service.
What to wear
There's no dress code. Come as you are.
During prayer
We usually stand to pray. Nobody has to join in; you're welcome to stay seated.
Lord's Supper
We celebrate the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of the month. Anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord may take part. This is explained beforehand every time.
Money
We don't pass a collection plate. As a guest, you don't have to give anything. Anyone who wishes to give will find a box at the exit of the hall, or can make a bank transfer.
Afterwards
After the Lord's Supper and on special occasions there's usually tea, coffee and something to eat. On other Sundays, too, we're happy to make you a coffee. Just ask.
